Helping individuals suffering traumatic experiences

A number of years ago, I completed the extensive training and consultation involved in a therapeutic trauma model known as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Months later, I sat with a Client who told about his anxiety. We found that he had some forgotten traumatic experiences from childhood which he had never processed and moved on from. He looked up and told me that he was ready to not carry these with him anymore.

Using the EMDR model, my approach to working with individuals emphasizes the reprocessing of emotionally damaging neural pathways in the brain that have never healed on their own. The Client and I then co-discover what life-affirming alternative thoughts they prefer. Lastly, we work towards making these positive and balancing thoughts part of their everyday life.
